Corsair K70 Pro TKL

The Corsair K70 Pro TKL is a compact mechanical keyboard with Hall effect switches. With its tenkeyless form factor, the numeric keypad is omitted in favor of a more space-saving width. The layout without a number block is particularly suitable for users who want more room for mouse movement, for example during longer work sessions or while gaming. The housing consists of a sturdy frame with an aluminum surface, which gives the keyboard a considerable weight of about 3.3 pounds despite its compact dimensions. The keyboard also comes with a detachable USB cable measuring around 6 ft.

MGX switches with advanced functions

The keyboard is equipped with Corsair’s proprietary MGX switches, which are based on Hall effect technology. These switches operate without physical contact, using a magnetic field to detect changes in the position of the switch stem and precisely determine actuation. This not only increases durability but also enables extended customization options. A central feature is the adjustable actuation: users can individually configure the actuation point of each key, ranging from very short to longer distances. This allows the typing behavior to be optimized for both fast inputs and more controlled, error-resistant inputs. In addition, the MGX switches support dual actuation. With this function, a key can be assigned two different actuation points, allowing different commands to be executed depending on the depth of the keystroke.

Lighting, software, and variants

The keyboard features per-key customizable RGB lighting, which can be freely adjusted in brightness and color. The iCUE software provides a wide range of effects and configuration options. Multiple profiles can be created and stored on the 8-megabyte onboard memory. This makes it possible to use custom configurations on different systems without needing the software installed. Key remapping is also fully supported. The K70 Pro TKL further includes several dedicated media keys, among them a rotary wheel that can be used for playback or volume control. A magnetically attachable wrist rest is also included in the package, providing ergonomic support during longer usage periods. The keyboard’s polling rate reaches 8000 hertz, allowing for a very high input scan rate.

The Corsair K70 Pro TKL is available in different configurations. Buyers can choose between a black or a white chassis. Several keycap options are also offered – PBT double-shot as well as multiple ABS variants.

4 out of 5 stars

"Corsair's K70 Pro TKL keyboard offers gamers a unique blend of speed, precision, and out-of-the-box availability, positioning it as a solid option for those who don't want to fiddle with new switches and keycaps. However, if you're not so keen on its sharp, noisy typing sound, or you want to change up how it feels, you'll be disappointed to know this board is not hot-swappable. For the price, this leaves me wishing I had options to repair and customize rather than discard and replace. With that said, if you want to take a keyboard out of the box and have it put on a show of peak performance, you're going to have a hard time beating the Corsair K70 Pro TKL."

"Quieter clacking alongside a rich, customisable feature set make this a slightly more affordable alternative to the Corsair K70 Max. It's comparatively compact to boot though, alas, still chunky for a tenkeyless design."

3.5 out of 5 stars

"The Corsair K70 Pro TKL offers an excellent range of gaming features, allowing you to precisely configure your Hall Effect switches down to the millimeter. Flash Tap (Corsair’s version of Snap Tap) will give you a big boost over the competition, and the design is a pleasing blend of aluminum and plastic. It’s slightly overpriced compared to its competition."

4.5 out of 5 stars

"The K70 Pro TKL comes with Corsair's magnetic switch, and it is terrific for daily use. The switch has good tactility and smooth actuation, and the best part is that you can adjust the actuation point, triggering a key with just 0.1mm of travel. That makes a huge difference in gaming, and you also get 8,000Hz polling, a custom Game Mode, and a high degree of customizability. If you need a tenkeyless gaming keyboard with magnetic switches, the K70 Pro TKL is a great overall choice."
