The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro is the third generation of keyboards with optical switches. There are three variants available: the full-sized Huntsman V3 Pro, the tenkeyless Huntsman V3 Pro TKL and the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini featuring a 60% form factor.
Analog Optical Switches
Optical switches are actuated by a signal of light. This technology provides a few advantages over common mechanical switches which actuate by creating a physical contact. It makes a lower error rate possible. The technique was further improved on release of the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog: new analog switches made it possible to not only differentiate between the two states “the key is pressed” and “the key is not pressed” but to also know how far down a key is pressed. This information allows different nuances of inputs in games and enables dual-step actuation, i.e., two actions executed within a single keystroke. All models of the Huntsman V3 Pro are equipped with analog optical switches of the newest generation.
Huntsman V3 Pro – Fine-Tuning of the Series
With the Huntsman V3 Pro, Razer is tweaking a few details but leaves the overall product similar to its predecessor. Many of the good things survived, for example the double-shot PBT keycaps, the impressive RGB lighting, the good gaming integration via Razer Synapse and the ghosting-protection via full n-key rollover. Also, a magnetic wrist rest is included again, although it had its lighting removed.
Razer Huntsman V3 Pro vs Huntsman V3 Pro TKL
The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro and Huntsman V3 Pro TKL are very similar and mainly differ in their sizes. The TKL version has no numpad and only one dedicated macro key, while the full-sized V3 Pro offers two macro keys. Both keyboards come with a multi-function digital wheel and media button.
Razer Huntsman V3 Pro 8kHz – What is the Difference?
Both the V3 Pro and the V3 Pro TKL have been available since late 2025 in additional versions with the “8kHz” suffix. So what’s the deal with these new models?
The Huntsman V3 Pro 8kHz differs from the standard Huntsman V3 Pro primarily through its higher polling rate of 8000 Hz instead of 1000 Hz, which further reduces input latency and makes it more oriented toward esports players. In addition, the 8kHz version features improved acoustic dampening and lubrication, which is intended to make the typing experience quieter and smoother. The switch technology (Razer Analog Optical Gen-2) and the rest of the keyboard’s functions remain the same on both models.

"The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz is arguably the best keyboard Razer has ever made, and dare I say it, the best I've ever personally used. I won't be going back to my Logitech 815 or my NZXT Elite MiniTKL keyboards. Not because they're bad, but the 8KHz is simply that good, and I can't go back."

"Few other competitive keyboards are able to offer this level of versatility, though it comes at a high cost. For competitive players, a lot of what the Huntsman V3 Pro offers will be worth it. For some casual players, perhaps not."

"The Huntsman Pro is an impressive and high-quality gaming keyboard with a vast array of customizable features – but its extreme level of key customization, and the ability to reduce the actuation point down to a super-sensitive 0.1mm, means it’s more suited to wannabe pros, and its high price reflects that."

"The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL is a class-leading gaming keyboard. It's especially well made, comes with some of the most powerful and versatile key switches available on a gaming keyboard today, and offers vibrant RGB lighting. While expensive, it provides a lot for your money and makes for an amazing choice for pro gamers."

"The Hunstman V3 is the keyboard for the gamer who wants to completely map out every controller input, including analog sticks and triggers, to a keyboard and mouse."
January 29, 2024
"The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro is undeniable as the world's most advanced gaming keyboard. Adjustable actuation and endless customization make it a boon for any professional esports gamer, but the work needed to perfect its settings combined with its high price make it unnecessary for the average gamer."

"Thanks to customizable actuation, rapid trigger, and simulated gamepad support, Razer’s Huntsman V3 Pro TKL is an excellent alternative to the venerable (and perpetually backordered) Wooting 60HE."
