BlackWidow V3 was introduced in fall 2020 and is a new generation of Razer‘s famous gaming keyboard line. Compared to its predecessor, many things have changed.
Razer BlackWidow V3 – Comparing the different Versions
It is fair to say, that Razer‘s naming scheme is easy to grasp: It is absolutely clear, that the BlackWidow V3 is the successor of the BlackWidow V2. It might be less obvious though, that there exist multiple keyboards with BlackWidow V3 in their name and that there are quite some important differences between them. Three different versions are available:
- Razer BlackWidow V3
- Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro
- Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless
Each of these versions can be chosen with either Razer Green or Razer Yellow switches. To understand the differences between the keyboards, we begin with a short description of the standard version.
Razer BlackWidow V3 – The Standard Version
The Razer BlackWidow V3 is a gaming keyboard with Razer Chroma RGB illumination, N-key rollover, cable routing and a palm rest. Moreover, a digital roller and a dedicated media key are available to be programmed to any function, like for example changing the volume. The key caps are made out of ABS plastic in a doubleshot process which makes them practically immune to losing their labelling over time. Furthermore, the switches are put into a transparent housing to make a brighter lighting possible.
Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro
In addition to the features of the standard version, the Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro further offers an extended set of media controls and a wireless connection. Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless
The Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless is a compact version of the keyboard. It has neither a numpad nor dedicated media controls. Moreover, it also lacks the palm rest and on-board storage for profiles. Reprogramming keys, even on-the-fly, is still possible though – just like it can be done with the standard version. The benefit of dropping these features is that you will get a smaller keyboard and a cheaper price.
